Adam J. Delp

January 28, 1983 - December 7, 2018

Adam Joshua Delp, beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew and friend to many, died Friday, December 7, 2018. He was born January 28, 1983 in Plymouth to Michael A. and Judy K. (Hileman) Delp. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 2002 where he participated in tennis, basketball and track. He earned his Global Studies Bachelors Degree from Colorado Christian University in 2006 and was pursuing his Masters Degree in Transpersonal Psychology with a concentration in Wilderness Therapy from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. Adam’s mission in life was to extend God’s love through loving and serving others. He delighted in the mountains and the Lord’s wonder and peace found in them and chose baptism in a mountain stream in 2009. He found his “home” in the Colorado Rockies where he lovingly served and counseled so many that were blessed to be touched by his life. . Adam’s radiant smile was his trademark and will be sorely missed by family and friends.
Adam most recently served as a Program Director at Urban Edge where he mentored young adults transitioning into healthy, goal-oriented living. He also worked at Attention Homes, an outreach to at-risk youth, and BridgeHouse, an outreach to homeless adults. He served as a Youth Development Specialist at the Metro Denver YMCA and also served as a Program Director at Sanborn Camps outside Colorado Springs. Adam had a heart for the global poor as the Executive Director of the 1010 Project (an outreach to the Kibera Slums in Nairobi , Kenya ) after graduating from college. He also enjoyed a semester in Patagonia, Chile participating in the NOLS – National Outdoor Leadership School as well as serving as a guide for Adventures Experiences.
Adam visited Plymouth regularly to spend time with his family, watch his beloved Cubs, Bears and Fighting Irish and especially cherished his time with his beloved nieces and nephews who adored him. Adam is survived by his parents Mike and Judy (Hileman) Delp of Plymouth, his brother Michael and Heather Delp and their children Taylor and Trey of Plymouth, and a sister, Erica (Delp) and Jay Sefton and their children Gage, Bryce, Drake and Ciera of Fort Wayne. He also is survived by his grandmother Karen Delp of Plymouth along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends from near and far.
Adam was preceded in death by his infant sister, Krista Delp, his grandparents Robert L. and Marian V. Hileman and Richard A. Delp as well as his aunts Michele Delp Wendel and Karen Hileman Erbse. Though Adam struggled with depression and love addiction, he shared the symbol of an anchor as a confidence and hope of his faith from Hebrews 6:19 – “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” Since Christ has gone before us, in order to secure our salvation, we should have absolute confidence in our faith. This was Adam’s wish for all.
Visitation will be Monday, December 10th from 4-7PM at Plymouth Wesleyan Church 11203 S. Michigan Road. Funeral services will take place following the visitation at 7PM that evening in the church. A memorial service will be held in Colorado at a future date.
Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery at a later date
Memorials gifts may be made to David’s Courage in honor of Adam’s dedication to helping those who suffered from addictions c/o 10924 Lincoln Highway, Plymouth, IN 46563.
