Alberta Lowry

Alberta Lowry, 82, a lifetime area resident, died of natural causes at 10:30 p.m. in Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton, Ind., on Sunday, August 5, 2007.

Born in Elwood, Ind., on May 6, 1925, she was the daughter of Arnold A. and Hazel Davis Reeder.

Before attending Beauty School, Alberta graduated from Walkerton High School.

She worked as a talented beautician.

Alberta’s first husband, Fred Church, who she married in 1946, died in 1950. She and Fred had three children: Larry Church, now deceased, Fred (Beverly) Church, Teegarden, Ind., and Bradley Church, South Bend, Ind.

After Fred’s death, she was then married in 1950 to her second spouse, Carl Asper, who died in 1971. In 1976, Alberta and Robert Lowry were married. Robert died in 1986.

Alberta enjoyed being with her grandchildren and joining in their activities. She was good at needlework and loved to fish.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Walkerton.

In addition to her sons, Alberta is survived by grandsons Matthew (Meagan) Church and their son, Jonas; and Theodore (Amy) Church and their children, William, Anna and Leah, all of South Bend, Indiana.

Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her son, Larry and a grandson, John Fred Church.

Friends will be welcomed by her family to share memories and celebrate Alberta’s life on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, Ind.

Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Dester Cummins, Pastor of the Blissville Church of the Brethren, will be at 10:30 a.m., following visitation on Wednesday, in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton, Indiana.

Memorial gifts in Alberta’s memory may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, South Bend, Ind.
