Andrew A. Kuusisto

Andrew A. Kuusisto, 68, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026 at the Center for Hospice Care Ernestine M. Raclin House in Mishawaka. Born in Detroit, Michigan on March 7, 1958, Andy was the son of Arvo and Eleanor (Bianchi) Kuusisto.

After honorably serving in the United States Navy, Andy went on to attend Ivy Tech University through their mechanic program. Andy held a dedicated career at Mark’s Auto Care in South Bend. At that very spot at the corner of Miami and Ireland, he would later meet the love of his life, Karen Schouten and they were married on July 30, 1993.

Andy loved to argue and bicker but was the most laid-back person while doing so. He was direct and steadfast in what he believed in; he wasn’t afraid to hurt one’s feelings if he felt like you were wrong or had crossed him. Andy was the protector of his family and especially his wife – despite her being more than capable of holding her own.

Following his family, the next thing that comes to mind when you think about Andy is his love of football. There’s a saying at their house that says, "Pardon the noise, we're okay, it's just football season.” During football season, you were sure to find Andy cheering on his favorite teams: the Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts, and Las Vegas Raiders. Outside of football season, Andy made many fond memories with his son going to see each new Marvel movie. He also loved Scooby Doo and all things M & M’s.

Andy leaves behind a legacy of unwavering love for his wife and for his family. He instilled the values of always standing for what you believe in and will be remembered for being the backbone of his family. As Andy would say, “If you wanted to see me, you should have come to see me while I was alive.”

Andy leaves behind his beloved wife, Karen; son, Keith Kuusisto and his fiancé, Tiffiney Dewitt; daughter, Megan Troeger and Phil Nemeth; bonus son, Blake (Olivia) Barrett; cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Michael, Lexi, SueAnne, and Clark; and his sisters, Loretta (Harold) Jedrzejewski and Laura Depoy.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arvo and Eleanor; brother, Ronald Meserve; and his Dachshund, Charlie.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 6-8PM at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. Military Funeral Honors will be rendered at 6PM.
