Ben E. Kersey

March 16, 1939 - July 4, 2014

Lifetime Plymouth resident, Ben Kersey, 75, passed away at 7:47 a.m. Friday July 4th in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center – Plymouth Campus following an illness.
Ben was born in Plymouth on March 6, 1939, the son of Dale E. Kersey Sr. and Annabelle (McKesson) Kersey. He received his education at Lincoln High School with the Class of 1956. He enjoyed a lifetime of hunting and fishing with family and friends. He had been a member of MARCO Bass Masters.
Ben had worked 21 years as a tester at the Plymouth McCord Corporation, then Indiana Heat Transfer and retired after nine years at Lear Corporation.
Surviving is his longtime companion Ida Zmija of Plymouth, sons; Kevin E. (Lisa) Kersey of Plymouth, Michael W. (Mary Jo) Kersey of Kemper, Texas and Darrin L. Kersey of Plymouth along with seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His surviving siblings are; Joyce Evans of South Bend, Linda Pruitt, and Dale E. Kersey Jr. all of Plymouth.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, sister Elizabeth Kersey and nephew Brian Kersey.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 5 – 7 p.m. followed by services at 7 p.m. in the funeral home led by Rev. Charles Krieg.
Burial will be in the Burr Oak Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be made to Riley Hospital for Children, 705 Riley Hospital Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
