Betty L. Metcalf

June 14, 1937 - June 18, 2023

Betty L. Metcalf, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth.

Born on June 14, 1937 in Argos, Indiana she was the daughter of William H. and Blanche M. (Heim) Baughman. She attended Tyner High School graduating with the class of 1955. On October 25, 1975 she married Eldon Metcalf in Plymouth, he preceded her in death on January 17, 2017.

For numerous years Betty worked for St. Joseph Hospital in Plymouth as a housekeeper she also worked at United Tech for 16 years before retiring in 2000. She is survived by her children: Melody (Scott) Keen of Columbus, IN; Kelly (David) Freet of Walkerton; Kimberly (Hurshel) Hunter of Plymouth; Tracey (Tim) Bittinger of Bourbon; 7-grandchildren and 6-great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws: Pauline Baughman of Plymouth; Patricia Baughman of Plymouth; Barbara (Gary) Dunlap of Plymouth; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, husband Eldon brothers: Bill, Gene, Glen, Paul and Gerald Baughman.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 11-1 pm at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will immediately follow with Life Celebrant James Smart officiating.

Burial will take place in the Morris-Polk Cemetery, Walkerton.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Pilgrim Manor Nursing home for the excellent care they provided for Betty.

I am really sorry to hear this. I knew Betty from working at St Joe , and what a wonderful woman she was. She had a heart of gold. She knew my dad in school when they went to Tyner….she will really be missed.
