Betty M. Birchmeier

August 22, 1953 — December 23, 2022

Betty M. Birchmeier, 69, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 23, 2022, in her home surrounded by family.

Born in Knox, Indiana on August 22, 1953, Betty was the daughter of Merlin and Eva (Hemminger) Whitesell. She attended Plymouth Schools.

While working at Hehr International, Betty met a fellow co-worker Gregory C. Birchmeier. On July 25, 1980, at the Marshall County Court House, Betty married Greg and the couple would welcome two children. She would retire from RBC in Bremen as a bearing inspector.

Betty was loving and caring, with a little splash of crazy as her family would say. She had a sweet soul and was always in a good mood. She had a huge heart and always put others ahead of her own needs.

She enjoyed doing word searches, loved fishing on nice days, and crocheting blankets for her grandchildren. She lived for being with her grandchildren and if she didn’t see them daily, she got sad. Betty also assisted Greg with Special Olympics by helping coordinate athletes and events.

Betty is missed dearly by her husband of 42 years, Greg, and their children, Jason of Plymouth and Sarah of South Bend; her mother, Eva Whitesell of Walkerton; grandchildren: Zoey Adams, Dakota Adams, and Ayden Birchmeier; brothers Merlin (Pat) Whitesell Jr. and Peter Whitesell; cousin Emily Watts of Plymouth as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Merlin.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Center for Hospice Care 112 S. Center St. Plymouth IN 46563.
