Beverly Jean Brummett, 78, was ushered into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, March 21, 2026. The daughter of Robert C. and Dorothy M. (Nelson) Kelso, Beverly was born on October 12, 1947 in Chicago, IL.
Graduating from Plymouth High School Class of 1965, Beverly was a lifelong learner. She earned her master’s degree in education from Ball State University where she was also a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. While she was completing her degree, Beverly spent time working at the State Hospital in New Castle where she had her younger brother, Ed, come and help over the summer. In the 1980’s, she worked as a teacher in Plymouth where she also served as the cheer coach and helped direct musicals at the theatre.
Following her time as a schoolteacher, she helped individuals through Cardinal Services; her daughter would also volunteer over the summer months. This time together was incremental in shaping Angie’s path in speech pathology. She then went on to work as a social worker with the Bureau of Developmental Disability Services for twenty-two years, retiring in 2012. Beverly also worked at K-Mart in Plymouth part-time on the weekends for 18 years before their closure.
Beverly was a dedicated member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Plymouth. She loved to share her love of Christ with others along with her love of music. Her passion for music started at a young age by coming around the organ at home and singing her favorite hymns: In the Garden, Amazing Grace, and How Great Thou Art. She continued this tradition with her own family, singing and playing the guitar in their living room. Beverly was member of a Trio called Vision with her friends, Jeannie Zehner and Shirley Junge. She also sang in the choir and played the organ at Calvary Lutheran Church.
Family and her relationship with God were at the center of what meant the most to Beverly. She was a prayer warrior for those around her and instilled those values in her own family. As her children started families of their own, she welcomed the role of being a grandmother with open arms. Beverly shared her love of music with her granddaughter, Bailyn.
She is survived by her children, Robert Brummett and Angela Brummett (Dave Kucera); her grandchildren, Isacc Brummett, Dara Brummett, and Bailyn Kucera; brother, Edward (Angie) Kelso; along with her nephews and nieces, Bryan (Ashley) Kelso and Lauren (John) Beck.
Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dorothy.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 from 11AM – 1PM at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1314 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1PM with Pastor Eric Ahlemeyer officiating.
Beverly will be laid to rest at Oakhill Cemetery in Plymouth.
