Beverly Jo Miller

May 9, 1950 - September 12, 2021

Beverly J. “BJ or Bev” Miller was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and beloved friend to so many. She passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at the age of 71 after a courageous battle with cancer. Bev spent her final days surrounded by loved ones who will continue to live her legacy and honor her kindhearted spirit.

Born May 9, 1950, she was the 3rd of three children, born to Paul and Joan Henderson. She attended Tyner High School.

Through mutual friends, BJ met Nilas Lee Miller and the two would wed on December 27, 1965, in South Bend, Indiana. She was strong, sweet, caring and kindhearted, but could turn into a protective “momma bear” when the situation arose. Her family was her world. Bev was also very involved when her children participated in 4-H, and they enjoyed fishing and camping in Wisconsin.

Bev’s artistic talents came to life through her passion for floral design. Her creative arrangements graced countless homes, weddings, church services and special events over the years –bringing beauty to the world around us.

The simplest pleasures in life brought immeasurable joy to Bev. Her heart was the fullest and her smile the brightest when she was surrounded by her family and friends. Bev’s loving heart left a beacon of light for all who knew and loved her. She was proud of her family and thought the world of them.

Bev and Nilas attended Blissville Church of the Brethren for 45 years and were recent members of New Song Church in Plymouth. She was also a former member of the Tyner Rebekah Lodge.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Nilas; beloved dog, Oliver; three daughters, Tammy (Mike) White of Bloomington, IL, Angie (Brett) Schultz of Wakarusa, IN and Kristin (Jeff) Hylek of Oswego, IL; two siblings, Claudia (Larry) Sailor and John (Sue) Henderson, a niece and nephew; and aunt, Joan Osborne. Bev’s heart and soul will also live on through her eight beautiful grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter Pamela Sue.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021, from 11-1 p.m. in Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Jim Mobus. officiating. Burial will follow in Tyner Cemetery, Tyner.

A celebration of Bev’s life will immediately follow at the Tyner Odd Fellows Lodge in Tyner.

Memorial contributions can be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) at www.rmhc.org/donate or via mail to RMHC Inc., 26345 Network Place, Chicago, IL 60673-1263.

Per the family’s request, masks are highly recommended to be worn for all services.
