Beverly Ruff Wyman

November 28, 1932 - February 17, 2012

Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Beverly Ruff Wyman on Saturday, February 25th from 2 – 4 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St. Plymouth. Bev passed away at her home in the company and care of her family and Center for Hospice volunteers on Friday evening, February 17, 2012.
Bev, 79, said in a pre-arrangement interview, “I’ve had a blessed life. I had a wonderful husband and children. I have been blessed with a fantastic family and friends and I have no regrets.”
Bev, diagnosed with bone cancer in October, 2011, came home to Plymouth from her home in Bradenton, Florida in January. There she loved to be during our cold winter months to visit the ocean so she could walk and shell the beach at her very special place in this world, South Lido Beach. She stated, “I knew it was time to come home and I am good with that.”
Born in Plymouth, the daughter of Elson and Loretta (Handy) Ruff on November 28, 1932, Bev was a cheerleader and played the clarinet in the high school band. She graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1950.
She met Jerry Wyman, the love of her life, a Warsaw High School graduate, while in school. “It was a little odd,” she said, “being arch rival schools, but in that year, we discovered there were cute boys in Warsaw too …and vice versa.”
They were married in St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Plymouth, on Sept. 5, 1953. Jerry passed away in August of 2001 after 48 years of marriage.
Bev worked at Treat’s For Her for 15 years and at Mary’s Shoppe in Culver, part-time, for 15 more.
A member of the Plymouth Country Club, she was an enthusiastic golfer, a member of Tri Kappa and the president of the local chapter of the American Cancer Society. She was a life-long member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Plymouth.
Bev was extremely talented and interested in all sorts of crafts. She enjoyed every kind of craft that used her dexterous and skillful hands. She was a seamstress, making her daughter’s clothes as well as her own and creating bridesmaids, prom dresses as well as dance costumes. “I loved to sew,” she said. “I must have learned it from my grandmother.” Bev was also a collector of angels which showed greatly in her home. To her family and dear friends she was our “Angel” on earth, always putting others before herself. It’s a comfort to us now that she truly has her “wings” so she may continue to watch over us all.
Bev, always energetic, sunny and positive, will be greatly missed by her two children: Kimberly Miller (Steve McCombs), Covington, IN., and Thad Wyman (Lisa Tyler), Plymouth. Two grandchildren, Lauren Herrmann, Portland, OR., and Courtney Herrmann, Bloomington, IN., her brother, Bud Ruff and wife Rusty, Marco Island, FL., his children, Renee, Shelly, Ramona and Steven Ruff and Aunt, Joy Klapp, Winterhaven, FL., all surviving.
Bev has asked that any memorials in her name be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 112 S. Center St. Suite C, Plymouth, IN 46563 or The Boys & Girls Club of Marshall County, 314 E. Jefferson St., Plymouth, IN 46563, so that others may benefit.

I am so sorry to hear about Bevs passing. She was a wonderful lady and I will always remember the many times she and Margot (mom) seemed joined at the hip and doing so many things together starting at Treats. They were alike in so many ways and dressed alike and many mistook them as sisters. I am so sorry for your loss, but the many memories will take even a deeper meaning in your years ahead. Jerry and Bev were great people and they are together again !

I am so sad to read of Bev\’s passing. I worked with Jerry for several years in the insurance agency & met Bev through him. I remember Bev working for Mr. T at Culver City Drugs, Treats for Her & then I worked with her at Mary\’s Shoppe. Her talent & gift for decorating was wonderful & we marveled at her ambition & agility in climbing & moving around. She always thought & cared for others & even in her illness she thought about me when my husband passed away in January & sent me a sympathy card. That\’s Bev!!!!! She will truly be a busy angel. My sincere sympathy to all of her family.

Words can not express the loss that you must be going thru at this time. Bev has been my \”Little Angel\” for the last 4 yrs and in my live the past 6 yrs since I returned home to care for my parents. In the final stages of mothers days on this earth 3 yrs ago she was there for all of us. In the past 3 yrs since mothers going home Bev has been my guiding light not only when she was in Bradenton and down the street, but even when she was home in Plymoth, she was only a phone call away and would always be understanding and guiding me in the right direction. She was the balance between dad and I on so many occasions. She is truely missed in my daily life and thought of many times thru out the day. When she arrived in Bradenton this year I knew what was going on in her life but had no idea what to expect. On my daily visits I couldn\’t believe what a difference roughly 6 months had made in my Angels life. To realize that she was no longer living and only exsisting here became more difficult daily. Not just for her but for us that loved her so dearly. We tried all we could to help her get stronger but nothing was working. I think the hardest thing I had to face was her telling me she was going home to Plymouth. I knew in my heart she was ready to go home to God. And I surely hope he had Heaven clean and organized because if it wasn\’t it is now that Bev is there. And I miss her so! But to know that she is no longer in pain and suffering makes my acceptance of my loss tolerable. I know she will always be my guiding light and will always feel her presence daily. Bev has made such a difference in my life and thanks to her I know I am a better person. Bev I Love and Miss You and look forward to the day that we are together again.

    All My Love,
