Bonna M Hindel

May 5, 1935 - January 13, 2021

Bonna M. Hindel, 85 passed away peacefully on January 13, 2021 at Caring Junction, Mishawaka.

Born on May 5, 1935 in LaPaz, Indiana, she was the daughter of Charles and Edna (Welch) Hindel.

She attended LaPaz High School and graduated with the class of 1953. Bonna worked in the loan department and as a bank teller for American Bank and Trust, as a bookkeeper in the loan department for Farmers State, and as a teller for First Source Bank until her retirement in 2000. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in LaPaz and was the church treasure for 9 years, played the organ and piano for 60 years. Bonna had a love for animals and always had cats and dogs.

She is survived by her nephews: Mark (Nancy) Whittaker of Lakeville; Allen (Jeanette) Whittaker of Bremen and Paul Lacy of Indianapolis; nieces, Esther Bjorklund of New Mexico and Martha Shoff of Elkhart.

Bonna was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Donna Johnson, Ellen Whittaker and Phyllis Lacy

Visitation will be held on Friday January 22, 2021 from 12:30 -2 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will immediately follow with Pastor Matthew Elliott officiating.

Burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Marshall County Humane Society, 11165 13th Rd. Plymouth, IN 46563.

    My condolences to the family. I was fortunate to be able to work with Bonna at Farmer’s State Bank and just lived down the road from her parents home. She was such a sweet lady and I remember when us ladies from the bank would go out for dinner together and she always joined us and we would have so much fun together.
