Bonnie Baker

January 18, 1931 - February 26, 2002

Bonnie E. Baker, 71, a Plymouth area resident most of her life, living in Argos since 1977, died of natural causes in her residence, 116 Broadway, on Feb. 26, 2002. Bonnie was born in Plymouth, the daughter of Clifford L. and Perma M. Barts Geyer, on Jan. 18, 1931. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1949 and earned a business degree from Ivy Tech. She later furthered her skills with computer courses. She worked in the clerical department of the State License Bureau and was also a former employee of the Marshall County Clerk, Treasurer’s and Auditor’s offices. From 1977 to 1996, Bonnie was employed by Aker Plastics in the accounts receivable and payroll department. Interested in many things, Bonnie enjoyed sewing clothing and making comforters for each family member. She collected family heirlooms and was a crossword puzzle fan. She loved being at home; cooking and yard care were fun things for her to do. She was a good mom, who loved her grandchildren and enjoyed playing host to family holiday gatherings. She was raised in the Plymouth Wesleyan Church and was a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, Plymouth, # 1162. Bonnie is survived by two daughters and their families. They are Deena K. Newcomer, Nappanee, and her children: Brett, Shannon and Samantha Burroughs and Tyler Newcomer. Her second daughter, Lisa A. and William Norris, of Plymouth, are the parents of three children: Deane and Malisa Norris and Bill III, father of Bonnie’s great-grandson, Koleman Norris. A sister-in-law, Honey Geyer, Elkhart, two nieces and three nephews and Lela Perschbacher, a great-aunt, Plymouth, also survive. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse and a brother, David L. Geyer. Friends may visit with her family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2002, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. Funeral services in the funeral home will follow visitation on Friday, March 1, 2002, at 7 p.m. Pastor Tony Schneiders, pastor of the Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren, will officiate. Graveside services will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2002, in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos. Pastor Schneiders will preside. Memorial gifts in Bonnie’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
