Calvin J. “Jimmy” Overholt

May 22, 1953 - June 27, 2022

Calvin J. “Jimmy” Overholt, 69, peacefully passed away in the comfort of his home with family on Monday morning, June 27, 2022.

Born in Copaigue, New York on May 22, 1953, Jimmy was the son of Calvin Arthur and Kathryn Patricia (Brough) Overholt. He was a drum major with East Islip High School in Long Island. He then went on to attend Ohio State University.

On April 10, 1999, in Knox, Indiana, Jimmy married Karon S. Vermilyer.

Jimmy worked for Qwest telephone company, transferring from New York to Oregon. He retired in 2005 as a fiberoptic installer, and the couple decided to make Plymouth, Indiana their forever home.

He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Plymouth and served as an elder. He had a strong dedication to his family and Jehovah. Jimmy loved being with his grandkids.

Jimmy always looked for the good in others. He was generous, kind, a joker and teaser, and you always left with a smile on your face after talking to him. He enjoyed motorcycles, fly fishing and being on the Oregon Coast. Jimmy also enjoyed a good meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and a good nap.

He is deeply missed by his wife of 23 years, Karon of Plymouth; and his 7 daughters: Diana (Chris) Robbins of Eugene, OR, Rita (Randy) Bruntz of Eugene, OR, Shelly (Chris) Freytag of Springfield, OR, Kristina Bales of Eugene, OR, Chanda (Joshua) Clarke of Staunton, VA, Karlei (Daniel) Hill of Plymouth, IN, and Charis (Jeff) May of Plymouth, IN; grandchildren: Caleb, Tiana, Logan, Shirah, Maresa, Lonnie, Levi, Hannah, Zachary, Olivia and Oliver James; several great-grandchildren; and siblings: Diane Danbury, Patty Scordino and Steven Overholt as well as several nieces and nephews.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lynn Quinn.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 9019 Suter Road, Plymouth, IN.

The services will also be streamed. To join Zoom Meeting:
