Catherine M. Fisher

March 2, 1905 - December 26, 2001
In Memorial

Catherine M. “ Katie” Fisher, 96, died, following an illness, at 10:25 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001 at the Catherine Kasper Life Center, 9601 Union Road, Donaldson, her home since 1990. She was a former 30 year resident of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and 19 years of Merritt Island, Florida. Born on March 2, 1905, in Champaign, Ill., Katie was the daughter of Henry and Anna Knupp Irle. She graduated from Campaign schools and attended Illinois University. In April of 1926, Katie and Ellis Fisher were married in Champaign. Her husband died on July 10, 1973. A housewife and mother, Katie enjoyed playing the piano and was a part of several senior citizen bands. While in Ft. Wayne she assisted her husband at Vesey’s Floral Shop. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Katie is survived by two daughters: Sister Joan Fisher, PHJC, Gary, Ind., and Rosemary and Robert Haber, Merritt Island, Fla. Five grandchildren also survive. They are: Kymm and Kevin Ivy, Robert Haver, Jr., and wife Lisa all of Merritt Island, Florida; Michael and Annette Haber, of Orlando, FL; Pat Haber of Deer Field Beach, FL, and Susan and Mark Sayger of North Carolina. Eight great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her spouse, a sister Elsie Babb and two brothers, Cletus and Harvey Irle. Visitation will be in the Catherine Kasper Chapel on Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, from 4:30 to 9 p.m. An Evensong vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial for Katie will be held in the Catherine Kasper Chapel, 9601 Union Road, Donaldson, on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at 10 a. m. The Rev. Father Edward Konerman S.J., will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Champaign, Ill. Memorial gifts may be made to Ancilla Domini.
