Charles Rupert Jr.

August 16, 1949 - June 14, 2015

Charles “Chuck” A. Rupert Jr., 65, passed away at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Memorial Hospital of South Bend.
Charles was born in South Bend, Indiana on August 16, 1949 to Charles A. Sr. and Ruth A. (Szymanski) Rupert. He graduated from LaSalle High School in 1968 where he then joined the Air Force and took on the role of being an engine mechanic. On October 7, 1972 in South Bend, he married Judith Prentkowski. Charles worked at Conway Central Trucking “CCX” where he was a truck driver for twenty-five years before retiring in 2009. He also was a groundskeeper for five years at the New Oakhill Cemetery. Charles was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 741 in Plymouth and the VFW Post 1162. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and loved his family; he loved spending time with his grandkids and spoiling his wife. He is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Judith of Walkerton, and his two daughters Kim and Jim Lowman of South Bend and Kelly and John Lester of North Liberty. Also surviving are his four grandchildren, Conner and Evan Lowman of South Bend and Ashley and John Lester of North Liberty; his sister Cynthia and Steve Wincek of Louisville, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, and his in-laws Ben and Esther Prentkowski of South Bend. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015 in the funeral home with Pastor Tim Stewart officiating. Burial will be in the New Oakhill Cemetery with Military Honors provided by members of the American Legion Post 27, Veterans of Foreign Wars- Marshall County Post 1162 and D.A.V.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association 6100 W. 96th St #200 Indianapolis, Indiana 46278 or the donor’s choice.
