Clara M. Mangun

Clara M. Mangun, 80, a Plymouth resident most of her life, formerly of W. Jackson St., died at 7:15 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001. Clara, a resident of Miller’s Merry Manor, 600 Oakhill Ave., Plymouth, for the past two years, died at the nursing home following an extended illness. She was born on Jan. 12, 1921, in Plymouth, the daughter of John M. and Mary Ellen Linderman Hill. She attended area schools. On Dec. 3, 1940, in Knox, Clara and Robert W. Mangun were married. Robert died on Aug. 31, 1993. A homemaker, Clara enjoyed the time spent raising her family. She did handwork, especially embroidery and quilting. She appreciated the outdoors, flower and vegetable gardening. Raised in the First Baptist faith, she had an extensive collection of quotes and inspirational thoughts. A stay-to-home person, Clara enjoyed 50s’ and old “bluegrass” music and working jigsaw puzzles. She is survived by two sons and three daughters, 25 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Her children are: Donald W. and Maria Mangun, Milford, Ind., Paul G. and Stephanie Mangun, Mentone, Ind., Rosemary Patrick and Pamela I. Melton, both of Plymouth and Wanda M. and Gorman Patrick, Michigan City, Ind. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Cindy, and two sons, Eugene and Ralph Mangun. A grandson, Mike Mangun and a great-grandson, Bobby Jo Patrick have also died, together with two brothers, Ralph and Marion Hill. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. Funeral services for Clara will be officiated by Rev. Tom Padberg, Chaplain for the Marshall County Hospice, at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, 2001 in the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth. Memorial gifts in Clara’s memory may be made to the Marshall County Hospice.
