Claude E. Buckman, 87, passed away at 1:51 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Catherine Kasper Life Center in Donaldson.

Born in Marceline, Missouri on March 1, 1932, Claude was the son of Gordon and Gladys (Chandler) Buckman. He proudly served for our country in the U.S. Army until his Honorable Discharge. Claude married Christine White in Crown Pointe, Indiana in 1951.

A Winamac resident since 1975, Claude worked for the steel mill as a brick mason for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W in Winamac.

He enjoyed bowling, fishing and visiting his family in Tennessee. Claude also treasured singing with his boys when they were younger, and continuing that fun singing with his grandchildren.

Claude is survived by his four sons: Gordon (Jacqueline) Buckman of Culver, Claude (Sue) Buckman of Crown Pointe, IN, Gerald (Becky) Buckman of North Judson and Brian Buckman of Winamac; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Beverly (James) Kelly of Winchester, IN, and Peggy(Dave) Coldiron of Lake Station, IN, and sister-in-law, Sharon Buckman of Schererville, IN.

He was preceded in death by his wife Christine in 2003, his son Robin Buckman and brothers, James and Ray Buckman.

Visitation will be held from 11-1 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m.

Burial will be in the Reed Cemetery, Winamac.
