Clyde Vance

February 5, 1923 - December 31, 2005
In Memorial

Clyde Vance, 82, a Plymouth resident for over 30 years, from 1965 to 1997, before he moved to Kingsford Heights, Ind., died at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2005, in the VNA Hospice Center, Valparaiso, Ind.
Clyde was born on February 5, 1923, in Logan, West Virginia. He was the son of John W. and Myrtle A. Mitchell Vance. He attended school in Logan, W. Va.
He served in the Navy from December 21, 1940 through October 18, 1945.
Clyde was first married to Phyllis M. Cox on March 10, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri. Phyllis died on February 4, 1984. His second wife was Phyllis M. Cripe. They were married in Plymouth on December 22, 1984. Phyllis died on May 8, 1997.
A maintenance person out of North Judson, Clyde worked for the Truckline Gas Company.
A lover of nature, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and outside work of all kinds.
He was an avid reader of the Holy Bible.
Clyde was a member of the Marshall County V.F.W. Post 1162 and the Plymouth American Legion, Post 27.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, a son, Phillip C. Vance and two sisters: Betty J. Propes and Gertrude Vance.
Friends may visit with the Clyde’s family from 1 to 2 p.m. E.S.T., on Wednesday, January 4, 2006, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth.
Funeral services officiated by Hospice Chaplain Robert Welsh, will be held at 2:00 p.m. E.S.T., on Wednesday, in the funeral home.
Military graveside honors at New Oakhill Cemetery will be accorded to Clyde by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Marshall County Post 1162 and the Plymouth American Legion Post 27.
In lieu of flowers, Clyde’s wishes are that memorials be sent to the VNA Hospice Center, Valparaiso, Ind.
