Cora Lee Ziessler, age 81, passed into the arms of her loving savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, September 3rd, 2023 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth. Cora Lee Kring was born on March 20th 1942 in North Liberty, IN to Howard and Virginia (McCormick) Kring. She is survived by her adoring husband, Gary; son Rob (Janis); son Kenn; grandson Zachary; sister Roberta (Tom) Janowiak; and sister Leslie Springman. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Cora graduated from North Liberty High School in 1960 and excelled at playing her saxophone in the band and having the lead role in the school play. She spoke often of her many fond memories of friends and classmates that still kept in touch with her. She was truly grateful for all her lifelong friends.
In 1974 she met and married Gary, the love of her life. They celebrated 49 wonderful years together, sharing both the ups and downs along the way.
Cora was a hard worker all her life and enjoyed many jobs throughout her lifetime. She spent many years at the Plymouth School Corporation, first as a cook and then as a secretary for the special education program where she eventually retired. Although she enjoyed working, anyone who knew Cora, knew her passions were cooking and baking, going to Lake Michigan, bluebirds, and being together with her family. Christmas was always a special time when trays of homemade cookies were assembled and delivered to family and friends.
Cora never knew a stranger and made friends wherever she went. She enjoyed playing cards, listening to live music, collecting cookie jars, fishing, and being outside where she could see flowers and birds.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 10-12 pm at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will immediately follow with Pastor Tim Lee officiating.Burial will take place at Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
