Daniel K. Butt, 53, passed away unexpectedly on Friday February 12, 2021 at his home.
Born on October 6, 1967 in Akron, Indiana Daniel was the son of Lyle and LaVada (McEvoy) Butt. He attended Tippecanoe Valley High School in Akron, Indiana, graduating with the class of 1986. On May 5, 2020 at the Plymouth courthouse, Daniel married Diana Loehmer.
Daniel served from 1998 until the present, on the Marshall County Sherriff’s Department as a Captain.
He had his helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft pilot’s license. In his free time, Daniel loved to fish, shoot guns, compete in MMA events where held a black belt. He was known as a good cook, especially when it came to preparing the Thanksgiving turkey.
Daniel was a member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church where he would serve as a lector. He also was a member of the Freemason Plymouth-Kilwinning Lodge No. 149.
He is survived by his parents Lyle and LaVada of Akron; wife Diana Butt of Culver; son Ryan (Sami) Butt of San Diego, CA; brother Troy (Debbie) Butt of Texas; sister Jill (Trey) Sawtelle and their children Mac and Gracy of Frisco, TX; stepchildren: Ryan (Julie) Loehmer of Wabash, IN; Justin (Miranda) Loehmer of Monterey, IN; Jenna and Sarah Loehmer of Culver; granddaughters, Abby and Aliyssa; godson Rykar Caswell; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 3-7 pm at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St, Plymouth.
Funeral services will be held on Friday February 19, 2021 at 11 am at Plymouth Wesleyan Church, 11203 Michigan Road, Plymouth with Fr. Bill Meininger officiating.
Burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Marshall County Sherriff’s Department, 1400 Pioneer Dr, Plymouth, IN 46563 or to the Marshall County Humane Society, 11165 13th Rd, Plymouth, IN 46563.
