Daniel L. Dittrick

October 19, 1953 - May 20, 2022

Lifelong Plymouth resident Daniel L. Dittrick, passed away in his home on Friday, May 20, 2022.

Dan was born on October 19, 1953, the second son of Otis and Erma (Eads) Dittrick in South Bend, Indiana. He attended Plymouth High School and excelled in basketball, graduating with the class of 1972.

He started his work career as a carpenter in construction and worked as a counselor for Prairie View Therapeutic Group Homes, Inc. in Plymouth. Dan also worked for Hoosier Tire and most recently was a bus driver for the Marshall Starke Development Center.

Dan was a great guy with a big laugh and an even bigger heart. He always looked out for his family and friends, and he never knew a stranger. His brother Dennis admired his kindness and caring nature that he showed to all.

He was a collector of diecast model cars. Dan also worked on and refurbished old children’s tricycles that would be given to a child in need for Christmas.

Dan is survived by his brother, Dennis Dittrick of Indianapolis, and several cousins from his maternal Eads family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends and classmates are welcome to Dan’s Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the New Oak Hill Cemetery Chapel, 1300 Chester Street, Plymouth. Visitation and story sharing will be from noon until the start of the service at 1 pm. with Life Celebrant James Smart officiating.

He will be laid to rest between his parents in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Memorial contributions can be made to Humane Society of Marshall Co, PO Box 22, Plymouth, IN 46563.

    We are all saddened by Daniel’s too early passing. We talked a couple times a week. As Snyd said, you came into our lives at Webster and have always been here for friends and family. Rest In Peace Daniel. You are missed.

    Just heard the sad news today. Denny, I’m so sorry for your loss. I got to know Dan well over the years, he was a great guy and a lot of fun to be around. He was one of the kindest, gentlest people I’ve ever known and he’ll be missed by all who did have the pleasure of knowing him.

    Stella and Floyd was our adoptive grandparents until they were blessed with their own with you two. Grandma made us clothes, and Floyd made us little cupboards. We knew your mother and father. Irma was a beautiful woman.
