David Vincent Houin

May 17, 1947 - December 13, 2005

David Vincent “Davey” Houin, a lifetime Marshall County resident, 12961 11B Road, died unexpectedly of natural causes in his sleep at home on the morning of Tuesday, December 13, 2005.
Dave will be remembered for his love of people, his love for his family and his love for barbeque.
He had a zest for life, golfing, traveling and an occasional good cigar. Dave’s greatest love, outside of the family, was the “Rib Circuit,” with Rasta Joe: always an adventure. He was a friend to all and never had an ill word for anyone, always finding the good in everyone.
Born in Plymouth on May 17, 1947, Dave was the second of twelve children born to Elmer V. and Lena M. (Baker) Houin.
He was a Viet Nam veteran, serving in the U.S. Army with the 33rd Scouting Troop.
He and Frances A. Thomas were married in St. Michael’s Catholic Church on January 3, 1970.
He was a loyal employee for Sprint Telecommunications for over 34 years, currently serving as a mobile technician.
A member of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Dave was active in the Plymouth Moose Lodge #741, and the American Legion Post #27.
He is survived by Fran, his beloved wife of 35 years and by their three children: two sons and a daughter.
His sons are Terry V. and Alicia Houin, Norfolk, Va. And Thomas D. Houin, Plymouth.
His daughter is Tracy M. Houin, Norfolk, Va. Three granddaughters also survive: Mclayne Houin, Marley Houin and soon to arrive; Lena Houin.
His surviving brothers, sisters and their spouses are: Donna and Kent Mattix, Plymouth, In.; Jeanette and Glendon Becker, Argos, Ind.; Virginia and Gary Mechling, Bloomington, Ind.; Linda and Kenny Nifong, Argos, Ind.; Susanna and Richard Chesak, North Judson, Ind.; Floyd and Debra Houin, Plymouth, Ind.; Vern and Julie Houin, Granger, Ind.; Roland and Kathy Houin, Bremen, Ind.; Daniel and Tana Houin, Plymouth, Ind.; Marlene and Dan Taiclet, Plymouth, Ind.; and Chris Houin, Burton, Ohio.
A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other family members also survive his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be warmly welcomed by the family from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2005, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. A Rosary will be prayed at 2:45 p.m. in the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 615 N. Center St., Plymouth, on Saturday, December 17, 2005, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Father William Kummer, pastor of the church, will officiate.
The Plymouth V.F.W. Post 1162 and American Legion Post 27 will provide military honors at the church. Cremation will follow services.
All are invited to a luncheon and time of sharing to be held at the Plymouth Moose Family Center, 1225 W. Jefferson St., immediately following services.
Interment will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in Dave’s name may be made to Moose Heart, c/o 1225 W. Jefferson Street, Plymouth, Indiana 46563.
