David W. Wagoner, 82, passed away surrounded by his loving family on November 26, 2025 at the Center for Hospice Care Ernestine M. Raclin House in Mishawaka. A lifelong resident of Plymouth, Dave was born on June 20, 1943 to Earnest W. and Esther V (Walterhouse) Wagoner.
Dave met Kay Misner in the 1st grade and began dating in 8th grade. Dave played basketball and Kay was a cheerleader at Bremen High School. As they grew up together, they developed a connection that fostered into a love story that spanned 69 years. They were united in Marriage on August 27, 1960.
Beginning his first job at Plymouth Radiator working with his Uncle Orval, Dave started his career at UPS at the age of 21. He dedicated 26 years as a delivery driver mainly in Culver and Argos until his retirement at the age of 47.
Those who knew Dave will fondly remember him for his sense of humor and ability to make anyone laugh. He was a family man at heart that provided and cared for them. His gentle nature was displayed in his love for the outdoor feral cats at his home which he fed and looked after.
In his free time, Dave could be found on Pretty Lake Golf Course. Golf was one his favorite past times, earning 9 different hole-in-ones. He was very athletic, playing basketball in his youth, participating in 75 hobby stock car races with car #44, and pitching softball with a 500 average. He achieved the 1st home run in Bowen field. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting; notably with two Boone and Crockett record bucks. Dave was a master gardener who enjoyed sharing his gladiolus and tomatoes with dozens of people each year.
He was a lifetime member of the Plymouth Moose Lodge and was an active member of Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity. He was also a longtime member of the Plymouth Country Club and the American Legion.
Dave faithfully attended Plymouth Wesleyan Church.
He will be sorely missed by his wife of 65 years, Kay; children, Tonda Dee Wagoner, Todd David Wagoner, and Tori Davé Wagoner; grandchildren, Tristan (Blake) Smith and Jarrod (Rachael) Ellis; great-grandchildren, Eden Grace Comer, Adelyn Hope Comer, Levi Nathaniel Comer, and Warren David Ellis; siblings, Sandra Boberg and Dennis Wagoner; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Dave will also be missed by his lifelong friends, Butch Slater, Chuck Martin, Gary Hillman, Dave Parsons, and Bob Danielson.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Esther; along with lifelong friends, Kenny Kamp and Jack Oliver.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
