Debra A. Reed

July 11, 1955 — February 26, 2014

Debra A. Reed, 58, a lifetime Plymouth resident, passed away following a courageous battle against cancer on Wednesday morning at her home with her loving family and friends by her side.

The daughter of Lowell A. and Betty J. (Gaines) Sickmiller, Deb was born on July 11, 1955, in Plymouth. She was a member of the 1973 graduating class at John Glenn High School.

She had worked in patient registration in the Emergency Room at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mishawaka for three years, had owned Deb’s Professional Caterers and Occasions in LaPaz and had worked for Grand Rental Station in Plymouth from 2009 to 2012. Deb retired in 2013.

As is evident from her businesses, Deb loved cooking, catering and people. She was a member of the Tyner United Methodist Church for many years and renewed her faith in the waters of baptism this past year.

Deb loved time spent with her family and was crazy about her grandchildren. She enjoyed snorkeling in her pool or in the clear waters off a warm tropical island. She was especially fond of pet dogs: Fluff, Rocko and Gus. Deb is survived by two beloved daughters: Holly Renee (David) King and their sons: David, Tyler, and Austin, all of Plymouth and Nicole Ann (Adrian) Hostetler and children: Bailey and Tyler, all of Plymouth; her mother: Betty J. Sickmiller of Walkerton, a brother Dennis Sickmiller of Anderson, a sister-in-law Kathy Sickmiller of Plymouth and friend Paul Roda. She was preceded in death by her father, Lowell and brother Gary.

Friends may visit with Deb’s family from 2 – 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2014 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, IN.

Services, officiated by her pastor, Rev. Tamara Boggs , will be held in the funeral home, at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014.

Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth, followed by a reception to celebrate her life at Occasions Banquet Center, LaPaz.
