Dennis Tkachik, 76, passed away at his second home on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
Born on June 2, 1950, in Joliet, Illinois, Dennis was the son of John and Pearl (Lacore) Tkachik. He attended Gardner South High School in Wilmington, Illinois.
Dennis worked for 41 as a machinist for R.R. Donnelly in Dwight, Illinois, until his retirement. On June 27, 1995, he married Alice Selner in Reno, Nevada. She survives.
Independence and contentment are two words that best describe Dennis. Welding and machining were trades and skills he learned from his father at an early age, and he proudly carried on that tradition throughout his life. A talented gunsmith, Dennis enjoyed making black powder firearms and often devoted himself to his craft before taking time to eat or sleep.
Dennis loved the outdoors and treasured time spent in the wilderness, especially in Missouri and Alaska. Turkey hunting was among his favorite pastimes.
He is survived by his loving wife, Alice Tkachik; his children, Kimberly (Richard Reynolds) Tvrz, Shelia (West) Mason, and Chad (Myra) Hollar; his grandchildren, Justice (Savanah) Tvrz, Kaitlin Kahn, Dominique (Spencer) Sieferman, and Morgan Hollar; great-grandchildren: Mia, Cole, Nova Tvrz; Hannah, Adam, Keaton, Ryland, Elena Siefert; his siblings, Ronald Tkachik and Donna West; and his former wife Diana (Titus) Snow.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandsons, Sammy Rash and Hunter Tvrz.
In accordance with the family's wishes, services will be held at a later date.
