Dennis L. Vermillion

Dennis L. Vermillion, 74, passed away unexpectedly on May 14, 2025. Born on July 21, 1950 in Plymouth, Denny was the son of Clyde and Dorothy (Booker) Vermillion.

A proud graduate of Plymouth High School, Class of 1969, Denny dedicated his career to well drilling, founding Vermillion Well Service in 1980. Throughout his profession, he collaborated with the Department of Natural Resources and was an active member of the Well Drilling Association until his retirement in 2002. Additionally, he ventured into running Vermillion Paints and Quarter Horses during the 1990s, a reflection of his entrepreneurial spirit. Even after retiring, Denny continued to lead an active life until his health would not allow.

On April 16, 1987, Denny married Margaret Hughes at their home in Plymouth, where they built a loving family. He found joy in gatherings with his children and grandchildren, cherishing moments spent celebrating birthdays and holidays together. Denny took pride in sharing his passion for horses, creating lasting memories through relaxing rides and teaching family members how to care for them.

In his youth, Denny enjoyed racing at the Speedway, and his love for cars carried on throughout his life as he collected antique cars and tractors. In his downtime, he also enjoyed fishing, finding peace in casting a line.

Denny’s legacy is marked by his strong work ethic and active lifestyle. He inspired his family with a go-getter attitude that will be carried on for generations.

Denny is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret; children, Chad (Kimberly) Vermillion, Tracy ( Rusty) DeMara, Heather (Jeremy) Houin, and Stephanie Bradley; grandchildren, Dylan, Malloree, Caylum, Riley, Carrson, Taylor, Keelyn, and Natalee; brother, James Vermillion; nieces, Lisa and Cindy; and his cherished dogs, Angel and Ginger.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Dorothy; sister-in-law, Brenda Vermillion; and nephew, George.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 from 4-6PM at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563.
