Dolores I. Hiser

December 6, 1930 — October 20, 2000

Dolores I. Hiser died, following an illness, at her residence, 9531 E. 9A Road, Plymouth, where she had lived for 5 years coming from a thirty-year stay in Valparaiso.  Dolores died at 5:51 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2000, with her family and hospice at her side.  She was 69 years old.

Born in Stuebenville, Ohio, on Dec. 6, 1930, Dolores was the daughter of Frank W., Sr., and Mary Knorowski Gerard.  She was a 1948 graduate of Wintersville, Ohio, High School.

On June 18, 1949, Dolores and Frank F. Hiser were married in Wintersville.  She was a member of the Wintersville United Methodist Church.

She was employed as a receptionist for Dr. William Shideler, Valparaiso, for fifteen years,

An avid sports fan, she enjoyed country music, baking and cooking.  She loved being with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dolores is survived by her husband, Frank, and their two daughters and two sons.  The daughters are Karla and John Biggs, Richmond, Ind., and Robin and Ken McGuire, Plymouth.  Their sons are Craig Hiser, Mishawaka and Jerry and Sandy Hiser, Atlanta, Ga.

Twelve grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren also survive together with 3 brothers and a sister: Frank and Louise Gerard, Painesville, Ohio, Raymond and Ann Gerard, Sr., Rockville, Md., Joseph and Pauline Gerard, Hopedale, Ohio and Carol and James Hibbits, Wintersville, Ohio.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation with the family will be from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, October 23, 2000, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.

Her funeral, officiated by the Rev. Fred Stayton, pastor of the North Liberty United Methodist Church, will follow visitation in the funeral home at 2 p.m. on Monday.

Memorial gifts in Dolores’ memory may be made to the Marshall County Hospice or to the North Liberty United Methodist Youth Group.
