Donita K. Rensberger

November 8, 1956 — March 14, 2022

Donita K. “Nita” Rensberger, 65, passed away surrounded in the love of her family after a battle with an aggressive eleven-week illness at 2:26 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2022, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center- Plymouth.

A Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the Bremen Church of the Brethren, 921 Woodies Lane, Bremen, IN. Visitation will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. with a service to follow at 11:00 in the church. A meal will be provided after the service for those who wish to stay.

Nita was born in Bremen, Indiana on November 8, 1956, to Don S. and Lavera F. (Shumaker) Ames. She graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1975 and went on to take courses at Bethel University.

At a church retreat at Stuntz Pine Forest, Nita first met Dennis R. Rensberger. Dennis wasn’t always the greatest English student and Nita excelled, and she would tease him that he couldn’t run a business if he couldn’t write and spell correctly. Well Dennis made sure that would never be a problem by taking Nita as his wife and forever best friend on July 19, 1975, at the Bremen Church of the Brethren.

Nita first began working in sales and marketing for Lock Joint Tube in South Bend as one of the first women in the steel industry. She would later join the family-owned business, Rensberger Oil Company, and continue as one of the co-owners in sales and marketing.

She has a strong faith in the Lord, and this strength helped her and her family as she has battled the last 32 years with illness. But through that, she taught perseverance and how to hold on to your faith in Jesus.

Nita was a family oriented, strong willed and very social. She enjoyed singing and listening to worship music and attended Crossroads Church in Plymouth.

She enjoyed arts and crafts and was a very good sketch artist. She loved to crochet, do needle point and cross stitch. Nita also made her children and most of her grandchildren baby blankets. She loved baking and making her grandma’s cinnamon rolls and dinner rolls. Above all, Nita adored being a grandma and spending all the time she had with them.

Nita is survived by her husband and soulmate of almost 47 years, Dennis of Plymouth and their children, Clifford (Charlotte) Rensberger of Battle Creek, MI and Denise (DeWayne) Weaver of Goshen; grandchildren: Mallory and Colby Rensberger and Kyla, Audrey and Jonah Weaver; her mother, Lavera Ames of Plymouth; sister, Vicki Rensberger and brother, Randall (Juanita) Ames; nieces and nephews: Nathan, Scot, Eric, Logan and Serena; and father-in-law, Loren Rensberger.

She was preceded in death by her son, David Rensberger, her father Don, brother-in-law Dan Rensberger and mother-in-law Dixie Rensberger.

Memorial contributions can be made to Time To Revive, PO Box 835943, Richardson, TX 75083.
