Doris I. Sliter

July 5, 1934 - June 24, 2012

Doris I. Sliter, 77, a lifetime area resident, passed away at 6:04 a.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
The daughter of Glen Edward and Dora Blanche Carlson Farver, Doris was born on July 5, 1934 in LaPaz. She attended LaPaz Schools.
Doris had been a machine operator at Bendix in South Bend for 20 years, leaving in 1971 with a disability.
An avid reader, Doris also enjoyed crocheting, cooking and baking and especially spending time with her family.
Doris is survived by a daughter, Vicky L. (Doug) Harmon of Plymouth, four grandchildren: Angela (Chris) Owens, of Hamlet, Nikki (Jason) Masterson, James Spiegel, and Mindy Sliter-Neff, all of Plymouth; 13 great grandchildren: Tiffany (Phillip) Colburn, Stacy Milton and friend David Shireman, Tabitha Masterson, Paige Masterson. Ashton Masterson, Alexis Masterson, McKenzie Spiegel, Mason Spiegel, Abigal Neff, Trinity Neff, Patience Neff, Hayden Neff and Ricky Neff; three great-great granddaughters: Khloe Colburn, Katelyn Shireman and Kylie Shireman.
A sister, Betty Kizer of Lakeville and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ricky Lynn Sliter; four brothers: Dale Farver. Robert Farver, Harold Farver and Bill Williams and two sisters: Norma Jean Hoover and Helen Lemert.
Friends may visit with Doris’ family from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services, officiated by Chaplain Tom Padberg of The Center for Hospice Care, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2012, in the funeral home. Burial will be in Morris Cemetery, LaPaz, Indiana
Memorial contributions in Doris’ name may be made to The Center For Hospice Care, 112 S. Center St., Plymouth, IN 46563.

    So sorry to hear about this. Sounds like she is definitely in a better place now. Had no clue what you
    have been going through. Tough tough situation. Prayers for you and the grand-children . . . . feel
    the hugs. Wish I could tell you the next few months would be easy, but I cant do that! You will miss her,
    cry for her . . . . feel her! Hold all these memories tight. Only one thing worse than losing your parent, and she had to go through that! Think of you often!

    My staff and I at the North Liberty Library were sorry to see that Doris had passed. We were talking about her not too long ago and wondering how she was. We all remember her fondly. She always brightened our day when she came in and checked out her stack of books. She was one of our best patrons. We miss her.
