Dorothy D. Pippenger, 85, a lifetime Plymouth resident passed away following an illness at 3:07 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2009. Her Christian reward was received peacefully at the home of her son in the care of her loving family.

Dorothy was born the daughter of Carl J. and Bernice O. (Disher) Stockman in Plymouth on October 4th, 1923. She was raised near Inwood and graduated from Plymouth’s Lincoln High School with the Class of 1941. There she played basketball and softball, remaining athletic throughout life.

She became the bride of Floyd R. Pippenger in Plymouth on the 30th of August in 1946. Together they raised their four children until his passing on March 31st, 1974.

There was no doubt Dorothy was an active individual and mother. As a homemaker she became involved in the children’s school activities, serving as a Den Mother many years, maintaining her yard, vegetable gardening and managing the family’s pickle producing enterprise. All the while she retained an abiding faith as a member of the Blissville Church of the Brethren. She was pleased to have worked for Sanford Jacox at Plymouth Products for over 15 years serving as the general manager.

Dorothy had been a member of the Marshall County Chorus and of the Ladies Golf Leagues at the Tri-Way and Rock. She loved to follow I.U. Basketball and all sorts of football teams. Her woodworking skills produced numerous chairs and tables for members of her family.

Family brought her the most joy and she spent hours piecing together her family with volumes of genealogy records. She embraced technology using the internet for research and e-mail to re-connect with family and friends.

Her family includes her four children and families: Donna J. (Rev. Kent) Bennett of Mauertown, Virginia and children; Jon Bennett, Jeff (Laura)Bennett and Julie (Bob) Hinkle. Dennis L. (Susan) Pippenger of Noblesville, Indiana and children; Ben Pippenger, Vanessa Pippenger and Emily (Jeff) Brown. Dale A.
