Dorothy G. “Dottie†Patz, 95 passed away at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Heritage of Fort Wayne with her daughters by her bedside.
Dorothy was born in Lowell, Indiana on October 16, 1921 to Harry and Lyrrell (Diss) Hathaway. Dottie graduated from Lowell High School. She attended Indiana University to receive her Associates Degree, and then furthered her education by graduating from Northwestern University School of Nursing.
Dorothy and Hayden Patz were married on September 1, 1945 in Lowell, Indiana. He proceeded her in death on November 28, 2003.
After moving to Plymouth, Hayden and she owned and operated Plymouth Dairy. The couple retired in 1981.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Delta Theta Tau and a Sigma Kappa sororities.
Dottie is survived by her two daughters: Christine and John Amones of Sturgis, Mich., and Dennise and Mike Ellinger of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren also survive.
Her parents, a daughter Patti, and a sister Ruth Keithley, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held from 11-12 p.m. EST on Tuesday November 1, 2016 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services will follow at noon in the funeral home with Pastor Toni Carmer officiating. Burial will follow in West Creek Cemetery, Lowell, Ind.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Visiting Nurse, 5910 Homestead Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46814.
