Dorothy G. Trygg

September 10, 1915 — September 14, 2000

A former Plymouth resident, Dorothy G. Trygg, 85, 1950 Ridgedale Road, South Bend, Indiana died at 5:20 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2000, in the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center where she had been a patient since June following a stroke.

Dorothy was born in Moffit, North Dakota, on September 10, 1915, the daughter of Willis and Aurelia Menard Edson.  A graduate of Moffit High School in 1931, she attended Valley City State College, in Valley City, North Dakota and received her degree from St. Mary’s College in Bismarck, North Dakota.

On Dec. 21, 1937, in Bismarck, Dorothy and N. Alvin Trygg were married.  Alvin died on October 29, 1990.

Dorothy had been a Plymouth resident since 1970 coming from Bismarck.  In North Dakota, she taught in the rural schools in the Bismarck area.  After moving, she substitute taught in the Plymouth and Lakeville school districts.  She also owned and operated the Bible Book Store, Plymouth, from 1973 to 1986.  The store continues to be run by her daughter, Ardyce Kreider.

Her life revolved around her church.  She was a member of the Trinity Church Assemblies of God, Lakeville and the Christian Business Women’s Association, Marshall County Chapter.  An accomplished piano player, she had often played at lunchtime for the residents of Mayflower Care Center in Plymouth.

Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Ardyce E. and her husband, Ernest Kreider, Lake of the Woods and Joyce A. Trygg, South Bend.

Two brothers and their wives, Donald and Anna Edson, Minneapolis, Minn. and Robert and Marjory Edson, Stockton, Calif., also survive with a special 104-year-old aunt, Genevieve Hughes, also of Stockton, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Marjorie Stubbs and Bernace Knoll and a brother, Richard Edson.

Friends may call at the JOHNSON-DANIELSON FUNERAL HOME, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, on Sunday, September 17, 2000, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Funeral services will follow visitation in the funeral home at 3 p.m.

The Reverends William A. Powell, pastor of the Trinity Church Assemblies of God and  Marlin Debban, a retired minister of the church, will officiate.

Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
