Douglas Dwight Miller

July 9, 1944 - June 17, 2023

Douglas Dwight Miller, 78 years old, passed away peacefully at 4:00 am, Saturday, June 17, 2023, in his residence.

On July 9, 1944, he was born in Plymouth, Indiana to Kenneth Robert Miller and Wilmetta (Vance) Miller.  Doug went to the 8th grade only to get a job delivering newspapers to help his family.  Doug found the love of his life, or rather she found him when she saw him for the first time walking down the street saying, “I’m gonna marry that guy”.  Doug and Betty Sears were married on May 26, 1962, and went on to have five girls.

Doug worked for Bendix for four years and Delmonte for twenty-four years as a Supervisor and Safety Coordinator, where he retired early.

Doug took his family on many vacations, short trips to Brown County and lots of camping and weekend trips to Center Lake in Warsaw with Betty and his girls and with his favorite 70’s music blaring on the radio!  Doug also enjoyed trips on his motorcycle with his wife and with his buddies from work.  He loved working on cars, always had one in the garage!

Doug’s life was so full of many adventures and quite a few obstacles that he and his family overcame with Gods love and guidance.  Doug was a man of God who read his Bible every morning until he couldn’t anymore.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Miller, and his daughters; Christine Renee (Peter) Popp, Plymouth Christina Ann Miller, Plymouth, Sheila Jo (Mark) Warner, Argos and Sarah Jean Miller, Plymouth; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brother, James “Jimmy” Garrison of Wauseon, Ohio and his seventeen year old dog Bear.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Robert Miller and Wilmetta Garrison, his eldest daughter Justina Marie; four brothers, Clark Garrison, Bobby Miller, Bruce Miller, Charlie Miller and two sisters, Dythia Miller and Rose Lowry.

Visitation hours will be from 4:00 – 6:00 pm Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 North Michigan Street, Plymouth and 1 hour prior to the service on Friday.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 23, 2023, at the funeral home with Pastor Collin Seitz officiating.  Burial will follow at New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice Care, 112 S. Center Street, Suite C, Plymouth, Indiana 46563 or to the Marshall County Humane Society, 11165 13th Road, Plymouth, Indiana 46563.
