Douglas K. Burns, 76, of Pennsylvania Avenue, passed away in his home on Friday, February 7, 2014.
The son of David and Frieda (Reed) Burns, Douglas was born in Culver on December 12, 1937. He attended the Culver school system through all but two classes of his 12th grade. Douglas quit school and went in the service in 1955, serving in the U.S. Army for 3 years. In 1994 he decided to go back to school and received his GED.
Douglas was a member of the Moose Lodge 741 and the VFW Post 1162 in Plymouth.
Douglas is survived by his daughters, Gwendolyn Thomas of Argos and Theresa Burns of Plymouth. His siblings are Betty Rosenbaum of Hanna, IN, Helen Norman of Akron, IN, Nancy of Valparaiso, IN and Ricky Burns of TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Jason Burns, and siblings, Eunice Schrimisher and David Burns.
A private burial will be held at a later date in the Culver Masonic Cemetery, Culver.
