Dwight E. Laidig, 90, was ushered into the arms of his Savior on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at home surrounded by his family.

He was born on September 6, 1935, in South Bend, Indiana, and was the son of John and Audrey (Berkey) Laidig.

Dwight attended Madison Township School, graduating with the class of 1953.

On June 18, 1955, he married Sandra Causey at Twin Branch Bible Church in Mishawaka. They shared 70 years of a wonderful marriage. Dwight was a man who loved his family, and did not know a stranger. He was warm and kind, and quick with an encouraging word. He was known for his hugs. Dwight was a Farmer, Home builder and a Housing developer who developed the Pilgrim Meadows neighborhood in Plymouth, IN. His work ethic was strong and admired. The evidence of God in his life was apparent as he gave generously to many. He served in many different roles in his church throughout his life.

Dwight also loved sports, from playing basketball to ping pong and anything competitive in between.

He is survived by his wife Sandra of Plymouth; children: Del (Jackie) Laidig of Elkhart; Matt (Beth) Laidig of Mishawaka; Shelley (Anthony) Johnson of Jacksonville, FL; daughter-in-law Angie Laidig-Watts of Lakeville; grandchildren: Ava Marie Laidig, Ashley (Cody) Lantz, Brittany (Justin) Smith, Tiffany (Austin) Gerber, Tyler (Natalie) Laidig, Sarah Laidig, Brad (Jessie) Laidig, Luke (Molly) Laidig, Taylor (Ariana) Johnson, Kylie (Chace) Frazier, Gabriel Johnson, Sierra(Angel) Toyens, Elijah Johnson as well as 27 great-grandchildren.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, son Bart Laidig, grandson Noah Laidig, siblings: Duane, Stanley, Jon Laidig and Phyllis Billman.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 10 am to 12 pm at Crossroads Church, 1650 N. Oak Drive, Plymouth, IN 46563. Funeral services will immediately follow with Pastor Scott Yoder officiating.

A private graveside service will take place at Bremen Cemetery.
