Edith E. Griswold

Edith E. Griswold, 87, died at 9:10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, following a sudden illness. A respected and admired citizen, Edith was a lifelong resident of Plymouth.
She was born in Denver, Indiana, on December 19, 1919, the daughter of Paul and Fay Stuber Griswold.
She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1938.
Edith started her career in 1939, as a secretary at the high school, before moving on to the Fort Wayne Community School system for 16 years. She came back to Plymouth where she worked for Susie Robertson before working for 8 ½ years at the Marshall County Division of Family and Children.
Edith played catcher on Eaglettes Ladies Softball Team in 1944. Both before and after retiring, she worked part time at Felke’s Florists.
An active member for many years in the Trinity United Methodist Church, Plymouth, and Edith had also served as a Girl Scout leader.
Edith is survived by her brother, Kenneth Griswold of Plymouth; two nephews: Richard (Judy) Griswold and Barry Griswold, both of Plymouth; a niece: Carol Griswold Housouer of Rochester; three great-nephews; one great-niece; 4 great-great-nephews and two great-great-nieces.
Friends are invited to celebrate Edith’s life and share memories of her from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2007, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Edith will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. William Kaster, pastor of the Trinity United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in the New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts may be given in Edith’s memory to the Flower Fund of the Trinity United Methodist Church or to the Red Bird Mission.
