Edna had been a resident of Plymouth since 1976, coming from Bonne Terre, Missouri.

She was born on June 27, 1917, in Benton, Wisconsin, the daughter of William Floyd and Mary Elizabeth Sullivan Limbaugh.  She began her education in the Benton Catholic school, and the Desloge, Missouri, High School.

On May 1, 1934, in Desloge, she married James Albin Menard.  James died on September 5, 1973.

A true lady, inside and out, Edna was a dedicated homemaker.  Her greatest joy was to be in the presence of her grandchildren.  She had a pleasant demeanor and was always a “Mom”.  She was a frequent volunteer for tasks in her church and community.    Very forgiving, she showed a lifetime of devotion to her faith and a compassionate caregiver for families faced with illness.

She enjoyed bowling in the Plymouth Women’s Afternoon League.  She appreciated music, enjoyed dancing and had a natural talent for decorating a cheerful room.

Edna was a member of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Plymouth.  Prior to coming here she belonged to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bonne Terre, where she was a charter member of the Daughters of Isabella, Holy Rosary Circle, Chapter 737, for 54 years.

In Marshall County, Edna was a member of Delta Theta Tau, Zeta Zeta Beta Chapter. She was politically active in the Democrat party in Missouri and Indiana and volunteered with the Red Cross, and Unit 1 of the Hospital Auxiliary of St. Joseph’s  Regional Medical Center.

Edna is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Anne and Jerry Gidley, Plymouth.

Two grandsons also survive: Mark James and Deborah Gidley and their children, Matthew Albin and Shannon Kathleen Gidley, all of  Plymouth and Timothy Brian and Cheryl Gidley, Tower Lakes, Illinois, and their son Eanan Brian Gidley.

A brother, Paul Limbaugh and a sister, Helen Morgan, both of Texas, survive, together with a sister-in-law, Fern Menard in St. Louis, Mo. and Ted Limbaugh, a nephew and Godson of Miami, Fla.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, an infant sister, Mary Elizabeth Limbaugh and  Earl Limbaugh, a brother.
