Edna L. Cowen

November 5, 1925 - March 27, 2015

Edna L. Cowen, 89, a Plymouth resident for 67 years, passed away at 3:05 a.m. Friday morning, March 27, 2015 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
Edna was born in Talma, Indiana on November 5, 1925 to Dewey and Ethel (Fisher) Whetstone. She graduated from Mentone High School with the class of 1943.
On November 6, 1943, the day after her 18th birthday, Edna was wed to Willis G. Cowen in Larwill, Indiana. The loving couple has spent 71 glorious years by each other’s side. Edna was a wonderful housewife and adoring mother to her three children: Bonnie, Dewey and Rodger.
Edna enjoyed quilting, doing needlework and making crafts. She also enjoyed gardening and cooking anything and everything for her family and friends. She could be found playing Bunko with her card club, doing water aerobics at Ancilla College or at Swan Lake, or enjoying her neighbor birthday get togethers.
She is survived by her husband, Willis of Plymouth, and their children: Bonnie S. (Rodger) Sherk of Rochester, IN, Dewey G. (Sharon) Cowen of Galveston, IN, and Rodger D. (Julie) Cowen of Plymouth; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Mildred Grindle.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Lowell, Doris Linton, Lois Welch and Mary Lou Whetstone.
Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2015 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2015 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Tippecanoe Cemetery.
