Eileen Ina Alleman, 90, passed away peacefully at Miller’s Senior Living Community on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. Born on November 17, 1934 in Arrowsmith, IL, Eileen was the daughter of John and Madaline (Myers) Frieburg.

Eileen achieved her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Illinois in Champaign. She worked as a dedicated educator, nourishing the minds of children as a teacher. Eileen went on to marry Edwin Alleman and relocated to Saybrook, IL. She worked as the Assistant Director of the McLean County Alcohol and Drug Program in Bloomington for over 20 years. They celebrated nearly 30 years together before Ed preceded her in death in the late 90’s.

Eileen was strong in her faith, being a member of the Episcopal Church for most of her life. She looked forward to playing the piano on Sundays along with playing in her free time at home. Eileen built the food pantry at her church from being hosted out of a closet to being set up like a grocery store for those in need that over 20 people helped run.

Some of Eileen’s favorite memories included traveling with her family. One of her favorite traditions was flying to London for Christmas with Ed. She also loved traveling to watch her son coach in the NFL and especially during his time coaching with the NFL in Europe. Eileen looked forward to attending plays at the Round Barn Theatre in Nappanee after she relocated to Indiana.

Eileen is survived by her children, Joe Shufelt and Lori Shufelt-Phay; grandchildren, Daniel and Eric; sister, Pat Fuller; and nieces and nephews, Jill, Julie, Diane, Rick, Carol, John, and Mike.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Madaline; husband, Edwin; and brother, Bud (Mary Carol) Frieburg.
