Elaine I. Haycraft

April 23, 1924 - March 25, 2002
In Memorial

Elaine I. Haycraft, a resident of the Bremen Health Care Center, died following three years of illness on Monday, March 25, 2002 at 5:48 a.m., under the loving care of the Center, her family, and Marshall County Hospice. She had been a former resident of Argos and Plymouth. Elaine was born in Teegarden, Indiana, on April 23, 1924, the daughter of Nelson and Gertrude Harley Baughman. She attended gradeschool at Teegarden, and Tyner High School.
Elaine was first married to Lee W. Reid on September 13, 1941. On September 4, 1971, she married Carlie Haycraft, who preceded her in death on July 25, 1986.
She was an at home mother while raising her family. She had worked at Wagner Wire in Plymouth; Hart, Schaffner and Marx in Rochester and after she and Carlie were married, they worked together as Haycraft Cleaning Service. Overlooking the fact that she was legally blind, Elaine enjoyed crocheting items for her family and friends. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Plymouth V.F.W., and the Woman of the Moose Lodge Chapter 1355, of Plymouth.
Elaine is survived by four children, Curtis and Sharon Reid of Cadillac, Michigan, and their children, Todd, John and Daniel, all of Cadillac, and Aaron and his wife Shannon of Lebanon, Ind. Donna and Rick Hartle of Dillon, Montana, and their children Angela and her husband Shawn Reed and Wade and Lisa Berger, all of Plymouth, Ind. Jary and Mike Bailey and their
children Laurie and her husband Tim Nestor of Indianapolis, Ind. and Brandon Grolich of Plymouth, Ind. Steve and Jenny Reid, Sr. of Culver, Ind. and their children, Eric Reid of Plymouth, Ind. and Steve Reid, Jr. of Culver, Ind.
Five great grandchildren also survive, along with a step son, David and Diane Haycraft and a step daughter, Diana and Mike Hoover, all of Plymouth, three step grandchildren, a brother Harley Baughman of South Bend, Ind. And five sisters, Velma Mangus of LaPaz, Ind.; Opal Kranitz of North Liberty, Ind.; Marian Bralick of Orange City, Florida; Ruby and Robert Kaiser of Walkerton, Ind.; and Shirley and Roland Lichtenbarger of Teegarden, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carlie, and a sister-in-law Margaret Baughman and two brothers-in-law, Quentin Mangus and Louis Kranitz.
Funeral Services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2002 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, with Pastor Tom Padberg, Chaplain of the Marshall County Hospice officiating. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, March 28, 2002 in the Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral services, then immediately following the services until 8:00 p.m.
Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth, Ind.
Memorial gifts in Elaine’s memory may be made to the Marshall County Hospice.
