Eleanor Bell Page, 84, died of natural causes on Tuesday, August 22, 2000, at the home of her daughter, 1717 Marbury Lane, Albany, Georgia.

The featured speaker for the 1996 Plymouth Community Prayer Breakfast, Eleanor had an active ministry in Washington, D.C. for many years.

As a member of Campus Crusade for Christ, Eleanor taught Bible classes in the White House during four administrations.  She initiated Bible studies for State Department couples and Christian Womanhood seminars for congressional wives. She was also active in Christian seminars on college campuses, visiting Indiana University/Bloomington on more than one occasion.  She was a frequent visitor to Plymouth.

Until suffering the first of several strokes last year, Eleanor continued her ministry by speaking at public meetings, providing marriage counseling and producing her weekly national radio broadcast, “The Word for Women,” on radio station WFYI, Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Born in Norfolk, Virginia, Eleanor was the youngest child of Douglas and Eva Richardson Bell.    She was a featured singer with local bands for several years and was married to  George Page in 1936.

Eleanor is survived by a daughter, Bradford and Milledge White, Albany, Georgia, a daughter-in-law, Melissa Page, Dallas, Texas, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A sister, Doris B. Hardin, Plymouth, her niece, Ida Chipman, also of Plymouth and several other nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, George P. Page, Jr., two sisters and a brother.

Funeral services were held in Albany with interment in Norfolk, Virginia.  Memorial gifts may be made to the Campus Crusade for Christ.
