
Erma Grace Pregel, 90, died at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2000, at the home of her son, Dennis and his family, 5473 Redwood Road, Plymouth, where she had resided since 1997. Erma’s health had been failing for the past two years.
Born in Brown Valley, Minn. on September 10, 1909, Erma was the daughter of Charles Stoddard and Grace Stoddard Clark. She graduated from South Bend Business College, trained in secretarial work.
On August 23, 1933, Erma and Charles R. Pregel were married in Michigan. Charles died on August 30, 1988.
She was a cashier for many years with the Colfax, Granada and Palace Theaters in South Bend. In 1974, she retired from the South Bend Tribune where she had worked at the front desk of the Mishawaka office for 11 years.
Erma enjoyed her bridge club and working crossword puzzles. She belongs to two South Bend social groups, the Saturday Nighter’s and the Turner’s.
Dennis H. and Pat Pregel, Erma’s son and daughter-in-law, of Plymouth, survive together with her granddaughter, Melinda Pregel of Crawfordsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and Lois Lauman, a sister.
There will be no visitation or services. Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial gifts in Erma’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
