Ethel F. Johnson

Ethel F. Johnson, 86, and lifetime Plymouth resident, passed away at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend who went to meet her loving family that went before her.

Ethel was born the eighth of 14 children of Evert “Jack” and Goldia (Gross) Samuels on September 30, 1929 in Plymouth, Indiana. She attended West Township Schools.

On July 26, 1947 in Plymouth, Ethel would become the bride of Mack “Junior” Johnson Jr. They would spend 55 wonderful years together before his passing on March 20, 2003.

Ethel worked for Montgomery Wards for 13 years as department manager of fashions. She also worked for the Marshall-Starke Development Center as a driver.

She was a member of the Sunrise Chapel, where she taught Sunday school. She was a wonderful homemaker and liked to read. Ethel was a loving grandmother to all her generations of grandchildren.

Ethel is survived by her children: Sheila G. Berry of Amboy, IL, Roger “Jim” (Vonda) Johnson of Plymouth and Pamela (Rick) Jones of Plymouth; 10 grandchildren, 28 Great-grandchildren and 11 Great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Dollie Ketcham, Cleo (Glen) Berger and Ruby Whiteman; and sister-in-law Margaret Dehne.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Junior, parents, brothers: Ernest, Albert, John, Tommie and Ira and sisters: Stella Hagle, Lulu Patterson, Ruth Murray, Velma Ottow, and Wanda Samuels. Also grandsons, Richard Ritenour and Kevin Ritenour and great-granddaughter Cheyanna Jackson.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 3, 2016 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home from 11-1 p.m. Funeral services will follow beginning at 1 p.m.

Burial will be in the Tyner Cemetery.
