Evelyn D. Bottorff, 87, a Marshall County resident all her life, and formerly of 7th Road, passed away in her daughter’s home early Friday, November 11, 2016. Evelyn had been in declining health over the year and was diagnosed with dementia.

Evelyn retired in 1995 after forty-six years of service from REMC where she held various positions, such as the billing clerk, cashier and the bookkeeper. She loved her family and grandchildren. The love of her life though was her faith; she was a member and heavily involved in the Blessed Hope Church where she was the organist for many years. She also was active in helping the children out at the church. She enjoyed playing Skip-Bo, listening to southern gospel music and going to the National Quartet Convention, as well as being a foster parent to five children.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law; Connie and Rev. Lonnie Nicholl of Plymouth, Karen (Dan) Wiley of Georgia, along with Ken Nelson of Texas and their families, who were like a daughter and son to her. Also surviving are her loving four grandchildren; Jeremiah Nicholl, Joshua Nicholl, Rachel (Nathan) Schinckel, and Ruth (Jon) May. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister; Esther Overmyer, and a foster son; Joe Horon.

Visitation with the family and a celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 from 3-7 PM in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 North Michigan Street, Plymouth and one hour prior to services Saturday in the church.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Blessed Hope Church, 2001 Lake Avenue, Plymouth, with Evelyn’s son-in-law the Rev. Lonnie Nicholl officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, West Township. Memorial gifts in Evelyn’s name may be made to the church.
