Everett J. Rice

March 3, 1942 — April 2, 2000

Everett J. Rice, 58, of 102 N. 3rd. St., Plymouth, died, following an extended illness, at 8:10 a.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2000, in Pilgrim Manor, Plymouth, where he had been a patient since Thursday.

Everett had lived in the Plymouth area 42 years, coming from Talma.  He graduated from West High School with the class of 1960.

He was born on March 3, 1942, in LaCrosse, Ind., the son of Alfred J. and Geneva M. Malott.

On July 6, 1962, in the Eagle Creek Church in Starke County, Everett and Judy A. Stiles were married.

A printer pressman, Everett worked for 20 years at Indiana Press and 11 years for Town & Country Press both of Plymouth.  He retired in 1990 with health problems.

A true outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting and camping.  He especially enjoyed family gatherings with his children.  He coached Little League and softball, also serving as a  4-H Leader.

He was a former member of the Plymouth Moose Lodge #741.

Everett is survived by his wife, Judy, and two sons: Jeffrey P. and Tammy Rice, Plymouth, and Timothy L. and Roxanna Rice of Nappanee.

A granddaughter, Robin L. Rice, Plymouth, the apple of his eye, survives as well, together with a sister and brother-in-law, Mabel and Don Paul, Grovertown.

Everett was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carol Louderback.

Friends may call at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April, 4, 2000.

Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Charles Krieg, pastor of the Pretty Lake United Methodist Church, will be in the funeral home on Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at 1 p.m.

Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
