Harold Lee

July 27, 1923 — May 17, 2005

Former Plymouth resident Harold LeRoy Lee, 81, was no stranger to the road, in fact he new it from coast to coast and border to border by the time he retired from the Teamster’s Union as a long distance truck driver. Since 1983 he has made Indiana and Alaska his home where he will be missed by his wife Pat, his many caring friends and extended family.

Harold died peacefully at home of natural causes at 11:46 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2005. As he had requested Harold will be returned to his first love – Indiana farmland and be laid to rest at the Jacoby Cemetery with his son Bobby and other family ancestors. Life for Harold began on the Carothers family farm in Plymouth on July 27, 1923, born the son of Ernest and Mary (Carothers) Lee.

He graduated with the Plymouth Lincoln High School Class of 1941 and the age of 20 he entered the service in the U.S. Army 11th Airborne Division. He and many others would be captured behind enemy lines, held prisoner and later awarded four Bronze Stars for bravery.

At home again, he would farm and later drive for the Teamsters where he met his longtime partner and fellow Teamster Patricia, they would marry July 11, 2004. Together they would enjoy travel and photography.

Harold was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars – State of Alaska and proud of it.

He is survived by his wife Pat, son Rex A. Lee of Minnesota, sister Ermadean Seltenright of Goshen, Indiana and many cousins in the Plymouth area.

Preceding Harold in death were his parents and son Robert Lee who died in 1984.

Graveside services under the direction of the Veterans of Foreign Wars – Marshall County Post 1162 will be held in the Jacoby Church Cemetery (King Road north of U.S.30) on Monday, May 23, 2005 at 3:30 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend.
