Helen I. Glaub

January 29, 1924 — October 19, 2022

On October 19, 2022, Helen I. Glaub passed away peacefully. Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went to be with the love of her life and best friend, Charles O. Glaub. Helen was born on January 29TH 1924 in Plymouth, IN to Victor and Pearl Klein.

Affectionately known as Darling Dodo, any person lucky enough to have known Helen would agree, “Darling” just scratches the surface of everything she has meant to the people in her life. Her positivity, sense of humor, unconditional love, exceptional strength, and welcoming warmth will forever live on in the lives she has touched.

Helen was most proud of the life and family she built with her husband. They married on November 12, 1944. From that moment on, Helen and Charles started their lives together in Plymouth. From raising their family to being an essential asset in the growth of Glaub G&G, their family grocery store. Helen was not only a pillar of strength for Charles but also as his First Lady when he later became Mayor of the city Helen was raised in, lived in, and loved her whole life. As a proud mother of four, grandmother of 17 and great-grandmother of 19, Helen left behind a legacy that is unmatched.

Beyond being the heart and soul of her family, Helen was very active in her community. She was involved for many years in the Dorcas Society which helped families in need. Helen was also an active member at St. Thomas Episcopal Church serving on the Altar Guild. She was an avid reader who always said nothing beat her reading a book on her sun porch on a beautiful sunny day at Pretty Lake. Never being one to shy away from a family gathering or Notre Dame tailgate, Helen brought everyone together and will continue to inspire with the legacy she has left behind.

She had a solid work ethic, a strong set of morals, she was tireless in her commitments and powerful in her resolve. These traits were passed onto her children who now see them in their children. Helen’s inspirations will ripple through generations. She will be missed but never forgotten by those who were lucky enough to know and love her.

Preceding her in death were her parents Victor and Pearl Klein, her husband, Charles Glaub, her two brothers, Philip and Dick Klein and her son, John Glaub. She is survived by her children Cathy Glaub, Charlie (Heidi) Glaub, Andy (Annie) Glaub, Daughter in law Mary Pat Glaub, her sister Betty, 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and close family friend Eduardo Munoz.

The celebration of life will take place on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 11 AM EST at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 400 N. Center Street, Plymouth. Visitation will be at the St. Thomas Parish Hall from 9:30AM – 11AM EST.

Burial will follow in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
