Jack Wagner

Former Plymouth resident, Jack Wagner, 78, of Athens, Texas, died, following a sudden illness, on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at 5:00 p.m. in the East Texas Medical Center, Athens.

Jack was born on May 6, 1922, in South Bend, Ind.  He was the son of Melvin C. and Alea Madge Bunn Wagner.  He graduated from Leiter’s Ford High School in 1940.

He served in the United States Army in World War II and saw action in the Pacific Theater of Operations.

Jack loved to travel and driving was his life.  He was a truck driver and had drove for various companies.  He retired from Kraft Foods in 1990.

Jack is survived by a brother, Ted and Diane Wagner of Gurnee, Illinois.  Two sisters, Bonny Lou and Fred Al-Greene of Mobile, Alabama and Janice M. Murfitt of Plymouth also survive together with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Marilyn Roumelle Giorza.

Visitation with the family will be in the New Oakhill Cemetery Chapel on Friday, January 5, 2001, from 9 to 10 a.m.

Funeral services will follow visitation at 10 a.m. in the Chapel.  The Rev. Father John E. Schramm, pastor of St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church will officiate.  Military rites will be provided by the Plymouth VFW, Post #1162.

Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery.
