James F. Lyon Jr.

James F. Lyon Jr., 49, of Plymouth, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 11, 2017 in the Valley View Health Care Center -Elkhart, surrounded by his family.

He was born September 8, 1967 in Plymouth, to James and Jean (Tetrault) Lyon Sr.

James graduated from Oregon Davis High School in 1986. He served in the United States Army for five years and was honorably discharged in 1991.

James married Shonna Zapata on January 18, 1991 in Colorado Springs, Colorado; and she survives.

He was a highway maintenance worker for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT). James enjoyed woodworking and running marathons. He was a servant of God and was a member and was very active in the Crossroads Evangelical Free Church. Surviving is his wife of twenty-six years; Shonna of Plymouth, daughter; Brittany (Chris) Demis of Plymouth, son; James F. (Allison) Lyon III of Lakeville, daughter; Allison Daisy Lyon of Plymouth, parents; James and Jean Lyon Sr., of Plymouth, one grandchild; Lauren Demis. Also surviving are his siblings; Melissa (Doug) Auxier of Howell, Michigan, Theresa (Mark) Wojcik of Plymouth, and Robert (Staci) Lyon of Argos. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Tuesday, May 16, 2017 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 North Michigan Street, Plymouth, and from 9:00 AM until time of service on Wednesday at the church.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Crossroads Evangelical Free Church, 1650 North Oak Drive, Plymouth, with Pastor Scott Yoder officiating.

Burial will be in the Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana, with full military honors.
