
James Grant Rhodes, 71 of Plymouth, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on February 3, 2022 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
He was born in Plymouth on February 4, 1950 to the late Kathryn (Meek) Rhodes and Ervin G. Rhodes. Jim attended school in Plymouth and moved on to become a plumbing apprentice for Colvin Plumbing and Heating, eventually becoming a Journeyman plumber. He started his own company, Jim’s Repair Service where he served the community for 40 years.
Jim was very active and loved activities such as fishing, gardening, hunting and searching for treasures at auctions. He also enjoyed daily social time with his friends over a cup of coffee at Christo’s. Jim attended church at the House of Prayer.
He is survived by his children: April (Jeff) Daugherty of South Bend, IN; and their children: Blayne, Caden and Karrigan; daughter Chelsea (Zac) Powell of McCordsville, IN; and their children Rawlins and Rossi; daughter Brittany Rhodes of Plymouth and her daughter Kendal; son Grant Rhodes of Argos and his children Colin, Waylon, and Lincoln. He is also survived by his many siblings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Arthur, Nathan and sisters: Lela, Pricilla and Aretha Rhodes.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 from 4-7 pm at the House of Prayer, 12450 Plymouth Goshen Trail, Plymouth, IN 46563. A funeral service will immediately follow with Pastor Nathaniel Haner officiating.
A private graveside service will take place at New Oak Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family in remembrance of James.

I remember Jim when he used to always come into burger king during my shifts. He was such a great and a funny guy always made me smile and had always great talks with him.

We were surprised to hear of Jim’s passing. As a neighbor, as he always called me, we always saw him drive past our house on his work days. Also seeing him at burger king for lunch. We are sure he will be missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time of loss.
