James L. Stoops

James L. “Jim” Stoops, 46, living at 13473 Michigan Rd., Plymouth, has died. Before moving to Plymouth four years ago, he had lived in the South Bend – Mishawaka areas. Jim died, following an unexpected illness, at 7:35 p.m. on Thursday, November 28, 2002, in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth. Born in Frankfort, Ind., on April 21, 1956, Jim was the son of William and Thelma Young Stoops. He is a 1974 graduate of LaVille High School. On April 20, 2000, in Plymouth, Jim and Lynette L. Bronk were married. He worked as a Sanitation Engineer for the Del Monte Corp. in Plymouth. Known as a workaholic, he enjoyed spending time with his family and working outside. A devout Christian, Jim was a member of the Christian Center in South Bend. Jim is survived by his wife, Lynette, two daughters, Ashley Kay Stoops and Karisa Ann Stoops, both of Rochester, Ind., and a son, Joshua James Stoops, Plymouth. A step-son and step-daughter, Gabriel M. and Celesta A. Torok, both of Plymouth, survive as well. Jim’s mother and father also survive together with Edward D. (Melody) Stoops, a brother and Donita K. (Bill) Jarrell, a sister, all of Lake Wales, Fla. His grandfather, Marvin J. Young, Sebring, Fla., several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews survive Jim’s death also. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers and a grandfather. Visitation will be on Monday, December 2, 2002, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2002, in the funeral home. The Rev. Stefan Radelich, pastor of the Christian Center, will officiate. Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth. Memorial gifts may be made to the organization, Feed The Hungry.
